chilliwack independent film festival

The ninth annual CIFF runs October 22-26 at Galaxy Cinemas, and it’s expanding from three days to five.

More films screened over more days, and a bigger venue are all part of the Chilliwack Independent Film Festival this year.

With the closure and demolition of Cottonwood 4 Cinemas, the move to a new theatre was inevitable. Founder Taras Groves said he’s “excited for the space to grow” the festival which will include 118 independent films that hail from Canada and around the world in a variety of genres.

“We were planning on doing a single screening (at Galaxy) this year either way and then had to pivot. So we’re excited to develop a relationship with the team at Cineplex and appreciate their support in this difficult time,” he said.

“We have the director of a big film Creep coming out too which is exciting,” Groves said, referring to Patrick Brice.

The Chilliwack Independent Film Festival is another great example of the types of community events and activities that make Chilliwack BC one of the world’s best places to live.
